The Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations has urged Barracuda to reverse its ban of people wearing certain fashion labels in its pubs in Leicester city centre
The 130-strong pub group instated a ban on drinkers wearing Burberry, Aquascutum, Henry Lloyd and Stone Island in two of its Leicester pubs because of links to troublemakers and soccer louts.
Barracuda denied it would roll out the ban to all its Varsity and Parody pubs. The group said a couple of gangs used the labels as their official uniform, but a spokeswoman said the policy was flexible: a lady coming in with a Burberry handbag would not be turned away.
Tony Payne, chief executive of the FLVA, called the prohibition "preposterous" and said it could put staff under undue pressure and lead to other problems.
