Market Taverns has strengthened its board with the appointment of analyst Nigel Parson as a director.

The news follows the London-based pub group’s recent appointment of former Stonegate commercial director Suzanne Baker as non-executive director.

Parson brings a wealth of expertise, with his combination of business and City experience, and specialises in equity research in the consumer sector.

He commenced his career with Grand Metropolitan plc, running tenanted pubs in London, and spent 14 years in operations, marketing, and strategy before moving to the City as a brewing and alcoholic drinks analyst at Charterhouse Tilney Securities.

Parson then joined WestLB Panmure, where he led the consumer team in delivering a pan-European strategy.

He has also held director positions with Canaccord and finnCap, and currently serves as a consultant analyst at Cavendish.

Parson has further been a Starmine-ranked analyst for both accuracy of earnings forecasts and stock picking.

Market Taverns owner Rolf Munding said, “Nigel joins the Market Taverns board at an exciting time as we look to grow the Market Taverns estate. His rare combination of hands-on licensed trade and City experience brings a combination of expertise, knowledge and insight to the board. We look forward to working with him in his new role.”
